Craftworks of Structure

Included here is the chapter "Craftworks of Structure" from Kenneth Sassaman's 2010 book The Eastern Archaic Historicized. As the Hyatt and Cici Brown Professor of Florida Archaeology at the University of Florida, in Gainesville, Sassaman has contextualized the making and use of bannerstones within the broader context of Archaic life in regards to the making of things with symbolic, ritual, or aesthetic purpose. Also included here as a resource is his extensive bibliography on the Eastern Archaic period.
